Brilliant Baubles
For Christmas, we made some 'brilliant baubles'. We explored the colour wheel and learned about analogous colours. These are colours that are beside each other on the colour wheel, and blend really well. We each picked some analogous colours and painted our baubles using water colours. We think they look really well on black paper.

Plant Investigation
In Science, our class had a look at what plants need to grow. We set up an investigation with violet plants. Plant A was the control – with sunlight and water. Plant B had sunlight but no water. Plant C was covered over to have no sunlight, but had water and plant D had neither sunlight or water. We put the plants in a sunny spot in the classroom on the window sill and left them for several weeks. We soon discovered that the plants need both sunlight and water to grow successfully. We recorded our investigations in our individual investigation booklets.

The Stone Age..
Earlier in the year the class had been looking at The Stone Age in History. We looked at what life was like for people back in the Stone Age. We looked at what they ate, how they lived and what their houses were like. We even had a go at making some Stone Age houses ourselves!

Autumn silhouettes
We explored silhouettes based on the theme of Autumn. Firstly, we thought about the colours that come to mind when we think of autumn – oranges, reds and yellows. We used crepe paper, plastic and black card to create our pieces and hung them in the window when we were finished. We really liked how the sun shines through the crepe paper, like a sunny autumn day.

A new school year...
We have had a very busy and exciting start back to school this September. A new classroom and a new teacher - Ms. Phelan, who is filling in for Mrs. Cooney. At the beginning of the year we talked about how we are all unique and brilliant in our own way, and how we all have something special to bring to the classroom. We made this beautiful flower out of our handprints. It says 'We are each unique and beautiful, but together we are a masterpiece'. We will carry this motto with us as we look forward to our year in Third class.
